CLAYTON ā St. Louis County elected officials expressed disappointment this week at delays in the construction of a new North County police precinct.
The county and its contractor, St. Louis-based Raineri Construction, broke ground for the planned 17,300-square-foot facility at 11030 Dunn Road in November 2022. It was supposed to be finished a year later. But as of this week, only a building frame stands on what used to be an empty lot.
āIām profoundly disappointed,ā County Executive Sam Page said at a County Council meeting Tuesday night.
Tony Raineri, one of the companyās owners, told council members at a hearing earlier Tuesday that delays with utilities and permitting set the project back, and he acknowledged some work had been done out of order. But he said he is āfairly confidentā his company can finish the job by a new Aug. 20 deadline.

In March, the county celebrated the opening of a new 15,000-square-foot precinct southwest of Affton on the former site of the Sappington Garden Shop near Gravois Road and South Lindbergh Boulevard. Construction on that project, led by a different contractor, began around the same time as the North County precinct.
āWeāve got to do better,ā said council Chair Shalonda Webb, a Democrat from unincorporated North County.
