All lanes of eastbound I-96 near Beck Road will close between 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 18 and 3 a.m. Friday, April 19, after a serious crash involving a semi-tractor trailer early Thursday, according to MDOT.

“It’s expected to take possibly 8 hours to clear,” the Michigan State Police tweeted. “Make sure you have an alternate route if you are heading that way.”

MDOT tweeted: “Use EB Grand River as detour.”

At about 1:30 a.m. Thursday, MDOT reported the crash on eastbound I-96 at Beck Road in Oakland County, initially having closed one lane. Two hours later in the overnight hours, at 3:30 a.m., MDOT that all lanes of eastbound I-96 were closed due to the semi-truck having overturned and efforts to get it off the roadway.

At 6:30 a.m., the roadway was reopened, but tonight it will close again to allow removing the semi.
