Robert Jennings

Texas Tech transfer Jennings chooses Oklahoma State

STILLWATER – An athletic power forward with a motor to match is the latest addition to head coach Steve Lutz's first Oklahoma State men's basketball recruiting class.

Robert Jennings signed a financial aid agreement on Thursday. The 6-foot-7, 230-pound transfer played the last two seasons at Texas Tech and has two more remaining.

"Every team needs a Robert Jennings," Lutz said. "He's a great teammate and person who cares deeply about winning and the little things that impact it. He's hard-working, incredibly talented, and never takes a play off. He'll be an outstanding fit for our program, and we're excited to have him."

Jennings steadily improved over two seasons in Lubbock. He averaged 4.4 points and 3.4 rebounds as a sophomore but turned the corner late in the year, starting nine of the last 10 contests, including a first-round NCAA tournament matchup against NC State. He averaged 6.7 points and 5.2 rebounds in that span.

Jennings was elite on the offensive glass, grabbing 16.3% of opponent misses during his time on the court (17.4% in Big 12 play). Though he didn't log enough minutes to quality for KenPom leaderboards, that offensive rebounding percentage would have otherwise ranked eighth nationally.

Originally from Desoto, Texas, Jennings home schooled for his last two years of high school but participated in athletics through the Texas Alliance of Christian Athletes. He averaged 17 points and 10 rebounds as a senior and helped his team win the Southwest Athletic Interscholastic Conference championship. He played summer ball with the Texas Impact and helped his team to a top-4 seed at the Under Armour Association Finals.

Jennings is the second transfer to choose OSU this spring, joining former FIU guard Arturo Dean.
