CHERRY PLAIN, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Berlin Middle High School underwent a secure lockout Wednesday morning after a parent reported an alleged threat toward the school around 7 a.m. Students, parents, and community members can’t enter or leave the building during the secure lockout.

The students’ schedules are being carried out as normal. The Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Office was contacted and an investigation is ongoing. According to the Berlin Central School District website, the threat is isolated to the middle high school and does not include the elementary building.

Officials say the school day at Berlin Elementary will proceed as scheduled. The district reminds parents all threats are taken very seriously. Stick with NEWS10 as more information becomes available.
