CHARLOTTESVILLE – Virginia’s basketball roster may be in limbo as the program pursues a number of transfer possibilities, but the Cavaliers’ nonconference schedule is starting to take shape.
UVa will host Coppin State on Nov. 11, Memphis on Dec. 18 and American on Dec. 22, according to signed contracts obtained by the Richmond Times-Dispatch obtained under the Commonwealth’s Freedom of Information Act.
UVa is also expected to be part of a doubleheader on Nov. 15 at CFG Bank Arena in Baltimore, where it will play Villanova, and Virginia Tech will face Penn State, a source said.
The Cavaliers will also play in the Baha Mar Hoops Bahamas Championship on November 22-24, which the program had previously announced, and will have a game in the ACC/SEC Challenge.

The Memphis game is the back end of a home-and-home with the Tigers. UVa lost at Memphis 77-54 on Dec. 19 this past season.
The other two nonconference matchups are buy games. Virginia will pay Coppin State $80,000 and American $85,000 to visit John Paul Jones Arena.
UVa, which finished third in the ACC last season and lost a First Four game to Colorado State, went 9-2 in nonconference play in 2023-24, including 7-0 in home nonleague games.
Point guard Reece Beekman and forward Ryan Dunn opted to turn pro from last year’s team, forwards Jordan Minor and Jake Groves exhausted their college eligibility and reserves, and reserves Leon Bond III and Dante Harris put their names in the NCAA transfer portal.
Saint Mary’s guard Aidan Mahaney visited UVa this week, after a trip to Creighton and before a visit at two-time defending national champion Connecticut, according to Mahaney’s Instagram account.
Four-star high school recruit Trent Perry, a point guard who decommitted from USC following a coaching change, visited Virginia last weekend.
Northern Illinois transfer guard Xavier Amos will reportedly visit the Cavaliers this weekend.
