DUNN COUNTY (WQOW) - A person has been arrested after police say they threatened a shooting at Colfax High School.

According to the Menomonie Police Department, a social media post indicated there would be a school shooting on Friday.

Court records state the 25-year-old man made several concerning posts on Facebook Thursday. His first post said "just letting everyone know, there's going to be a shooting at the Colfax High School tomorrow." He then commented on the same post with his address.

When police spoke with him, he said he wanted to be on the news and get more attention on social media. According to the criminal complaint he told police he believed the internet is alive and is hacking people's nervous systems.

The Menomonie Police Department first alerted the public, and have asked that the man not be identified. News 18 will honor that request for now.

The man is charged with making terrorist threats and unlawful use a phone to threaten harm. If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of three years and nine months in prison. He is being held in the Dunn County Jail on a $25,000 cash bond.

At this time law enforcement do not believe there is any threat to Colfax High School.
