COOLIDGE, AZ (AZFamily) — A freeway was closed for hours south of the Valley due to a crash involving a Gila River Police Department SUV on Tuesday evening.

It happened on State Route 87, about 17 miles north of Coolidge.

The Gila River Police Department said it was a three-vehicle crash but wouldn’t confirm one of those three belonged to the department.

Police said one person was taken to a Valley hospital with injuries that weren’t life-threatening.

Video from Arizona’s Family news chopper showed an SUV with its roof torn off and it landed on its side.
