Man accused of stealing more than $500k in copper and equipment
TRINITY, Ala. (WAFF) - A man is facing numerous charges after Trinity Police officials say he stole nearly $500,000 worth of copper and equipment.
After a months-long investigation, Jerrel Ables was arrested and charged with eight counts of first-degree theft. Ables is accused of stealing the copper and equipment from a local business he worked at.
“It makes me feel great. Our detective has a lot of years of experience. He did all of the leg work and the things that needs to be done to make this a solid case,” Trinity Police Chief Randy Hughes said. “I was proud he was able to do that. I hope this sets and example to not take advantage of any of the businesses in Trinity.”
Ables has since been released from the Morgan County Jail on a $40,000 bond. According to officials more arrests are likely to come.
