Bill O’Reilly and Rosie O’Donnell are prepared to put their money where their mouth is. On Wednesday night’s (April 17) episode of Chris Cuomo‘s NewsNation show, the conservative commentator bet the comedian $10,000 that Donald Trump would not be found guilty in his court cases.

O’Donnell spoke on the episode first, telling Cuomo that Trump is a “cruel, criminal and mentally unstable man.” She claimed that “democracy is on trial” when it comes to his indictments, and declared that the country needs to come together again.

However, O’Reilly didn’t think her approach would work.

“Rosie, with all due respect, you are not going to be successful saying that democracy is on trial and anybody who supports Donald Trump is a fascist,” he said. “Those people are going to reject you 100 percent. There’s a lot more to it than you are presenting.”

O’Reilly continued, “Donald Trump presided over the country for four years, and there was no attack on the country until Jan. 6. That was a large mistake that he made. I don’t believe that he was behind it. I think that if that trial ever gets up, he’ll be acquitted.”

The television personality added that O’Donnell would not bring the country together by “demonizing” Trump and his supporters, before Cuomo cut him off to allow time for the actress’ rebuttal.

O’Donnell went on to accuse Trump of trying to become a “dictator” and called him “the worst thing that ever happened to this nation.” While she shared her belief that he would eventually be put behind bars “where he deserves to be,” O’Reilly still wasn’t buying it.

“We’ll see in court what is presented, and if you are correct, I will take a $10,000 bet right now with you, Rosie, to your favorite charity or mine that Donald Trump will not be convicted of insurrection, because he’s not charged with it,” he said, to which O’Donnell replied, “I’ll make that bet, $10,000 that he is found guilty — not of that, of other charges. Anything he is charged with, I agree he will be guilty.”

Later on in the interview, O’Reilly explained why he wasn’t “fearful for our democracy” the same way O’Donnell said she was, pointing out that his and other fellow broadcasters’ freedom was “not impeded one iota during the Trump administration.”

“You still have The View on every day, pounding Trump into pudding. Nothing happens. All the working people I know were better off under Donald Trump,” he claimed, while O’Donnell fired back, “That’s bull. Bill, how many Americans did he kill by his COVID inaction? Let’s start right there. Are you kidding me? People were better with him?”

She concluded, “You’re out of your mind.”
