NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - On Monday, reports of a gun on campus had Fairview Middle School students and staff shelter in place as law enforcement investigated, this is according to a message sent to families from the principal.

Dr. Marilyn Webb said the middle school was put under shelter in place to allow law enforcement and administration to investigate the report. It was then lifted after no weapon was found on campus.

Students were kept in their classrooms while the investigation occurred.

“Parents, as a reminder, please talk with your children about the consequences bringing any type of weapon or toy replica onto school property. Also remind your children that when you see something, say something. As in this case, the quick notification by students helped the administration and law enforcement swiftly handle this incident,” Webb added.
