Teachers and home-school students from across the Driftless Region are invited to exhibit their students’ works at the 20th annual Driftless Area Art Festival, planned for Sept. 21 and 22 in Soldiers Grove.
They’ll be part of a weekend that celebrates and promotes the talents of visual, performing and culinary artists from the Driftless Area, which encompasses southwest Wisconsin and areas of southeast Minnesota, northeastern Iowa and northwestern Illinois. The deadline for schools to apply is May 31. Information and application forms can be found on the Driftless Area Art Festival website under “Applications & Guidelines” – “Youth Art Form” link.
In addition, the teen art gallery and exhibition each year displays artwork of young artists grades 9-12. Teen/youth artists can apply individually using the forms found on the Driftless Area Art Festival website under “Applications & Guidelines” – “Youth Art Form” link.

The deadline for these individual applications is Sept. 6.
Continuing a decade-long tradition, artist jurors will award first place, second place, and third place cash awards for grades K-2, 3-5, 6-8 and 9-12. In addition, the first-place winners’ school art programs will each be awarded $500. This is possible due to a generous anonymous donor and lover of kids art. There will also be a first-place cash award for a 3-D art piece.
Teachers and individual youth artists can find detailed information on the art festival website https://www.driftlessareaartfestival.com under “Applications & Guidelines” – “Youth Art Form” link.
There will be an awards ceremony on Sunday, Sept. 22, at 2 p.m. in the entertainment tent. We will present ribbons and cash awards to the youth artists and there will be a drawing of two schools from all participating schools for a chance to win $500 each for their art programs.
