A dispute over a dead man's book of drawings for potential tattoos — between his girlfriend and his mother — escalated when the girlfriend kicked the mother out.

The two just happen to live across the street from each other.

Deputies in Florida got “a 911 hang-up, possible disturbance in progress,” and found the victim — the girlfriend — bleeding from the mouth just before noon on April 9.

She was in awful shape, and it wasn’t the mother who did it.

According to the arrest report, the victim said “prior to contacting law enforcement,” the mother “had come over to her house from across the street to retrieve a book of drawings.”

It said the girlfriend told the mother “she could not have the book of drawings and that she needed to leave the residence.
“[The victim] said [the mother] refused to leave [so she] had to push her through the residence, back to the side door, in order to get her out of the house.”

Eventually, the mother left, but “a short time later,” her daughter, the suspect Brandy Lynn O'Bryan, arrived.

Her timing could hardly have been worse.

The arrest report said the ex-girlfriend advised “that she was sitting on the toilet using the bathroom when Brandy arrived.
“[The victim] stated that Brandy made her way into the residence without invitation, forcefully busted open the bathroom door, and used a glass light bulb cover for a lamp to forcefully strike [the victim] in her face against her will.

“[The victim] advised that she and Brandy then engaged in a physical altercation, which ended with Brandy fleeing the residence prior to [the victim] contacting law enforcement.”

A detective reported the victim “had a noticeable cut above her right eye, which caused the right side of her face to be completely covered with blood, as well as her chest and down the front of her shirt.
“[The victim] also had one of her front teeth knocked out of her mouth.”

The victim couldn't write and sign a statement due to “being covered in blood [so] deputies had her raise her right hand on body camera and swear that everything that she had told deputies on scene was the truth.”

Then, paramedics took her to the hospital, where medical personnel told deputies once her “face was clear of blood, she had a laceration on her forehead above her right eyebrow and a missing tooth.”

Next, deputies spoke with O'Bryan's mother across the street and wrote she “admitted to refusing to leave” when asked but claimed the victim “had punched her in the face for refusing to leave, at which time she punched [the victim] back and she ultimately left.”

The deputies didn’t believe her.

According to the arrest report, the mother said “her face was swollen from being punched; however, deputies did not observe any visible injuries to [her].
“There was no bruising or swelling [just a few minutes later]; therefore, her face should have still showed signs of swelling.

“[The mother] stated she was checking her mail when her daughter, Brandy, came over to her house on her lunch break.

“[The mother] stated Brandy asked her what happened, and she told Brandy that [the victim] had punched her.

“[The mother] stated Brandy backed out of her driveway and pulled into the driveway of [the victim] across the street.
“Brandy entered [the victim's] residence and a few minutes later, came back over, stating that she had hit [the victim] over the head with a piece of glass.”

The victim met with deputies nine days after the violence, and they got an arrest warrant.

Brandy O'Bryan, 24, was arrested at 1:21 a.m. Wednesday at her home.

She was charged with burglary with battery, which is a first-degree felony, and she has been in jail ever since.
