On Monday, April 15, an abandoned vehicle was found in the area of the Trusty Cemetery on Trusty Cemetery Road in Dawson Springs, Kentucky.

The white Dodge Durango was identified as the vehicle belonging to Roy Foster Jackson, an 83-year-old man reported missing from Florence, Alabama.

“It was determined, by further investigation, Mr. Jackson was last seen near his home, in Alabama, on Sunday, April 7, 2024. In cooperation with the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Department, Mr. Jackson was listed as a missing person from their jurisdiction,” the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office said.

Kentucky officials say Jackson’s remains were found Saturday, April 20, “some distance away from Trusty Cemetery.”

Lt. James Distefano of the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office told Nexstar’s WIAT that they were made aware of Jackson’s disappearance after police in Kentucky ran his car tag.

Deputies did a welfare check at Jackson’s home in Florence, but did not find him.
