12-year-old boy rapes minor girl; detained

Lucknow: A 12-year-old boy was detained on Friday for allegedly raping a five-year-old girl in Hardoi. The incident came to light when guests at a wedding heard the girl crying in the vicinity and rushed to her rescue. They found the girl with the accused in a compromising state.
Subsequently, a police team sent the girl for a medical examination. “The girl, who had come to the wedding with her parents, went missing.Her parents began a search but in vain. Later, she was found with the accused boy, who had also come to attend the wedding,” said Nirbhay Kumar Singh, SHO Mallawan.
The cop added, “When our team arrived, the villagers handed over the accused child to us. Police have lodged a report against the child based on the complaint of the girl's father.”
Additional superintendent of police (east), Nripendra Kumar, said that the accused boy is currently with a lady officer. After completing the legal process, he will be sent to a juvenile home. Meanwhile, the statement of the girl will soon be taken in front of a magistrate.
