Wednesday, April 3

9:03 p.m.: A crash with property damage only was reported at 32-36 Washington St.

5:54 p.m.: A disabled vehicle was towed from the extension of Route 128 southbound.

Debris in the roadway: At 5:10 p.m. between Exits 54 and 55 on Route 128 northbound and at 5:04 p.m. at the rotary on the Route 128 extension.

2:51 p.m.: A caller from Cape Seafoods on the Jodrey State Fish Pier said his lobster traps were stolen and he believed the theft was caught on camera. Police were dispatched to speak the caller.

12:51 p.m.: A disabled vehicle was reported on Grant Circle.

11:38 a.m.: Police at the station took a report from a resident of a paddle boat stolen from Eastern Avenue.

11:28 a.m.: A 28-year-old Gloucester resident was arrested on a warrant for failing to appear in court and driving with a suspended license after a traffic stop at Centennial and Commonwealth avenues. An officer spotted the woman, known to him, walking through a parking lot on Essex Avenue. The officer knew there was an outstanding warrant for her arrest from Gloucester District Court. The woman drove away in a black 2019 BMW and the officer stopped her a short time later downtown. Police advised the woman she had an outstanding warrant for her arrest and dispatch confirmed her license was suspended. The woman told police she had cleared up a prior issue and that her license fees had been paid.

10:20 a.m.: After a crash with property damage only on Lexington Avenue, police planned to file a criminal complaint against a 35-year-old Peabody resident on a charge of leaving the scene of property damage. A box truck on Lexington Avenue had turned right into a parking lot, and while doing so struck a railing and wall. No injuries were reported. The driver was cited for leaving the scene of an accident without identifying himself. The truck was damaged on rear passenger side, the crash report said. Someone in a dog grooming business described to police the building shaking, then seeing the truck back up and then complete the turn into the parking lot. The driver at first denied to police he hit anything. Police noticed fresh damage with stone dust on the right rear tire before citing the driver.

8:09 a.m.: Peace was restored after a report of harassment on Mason Street.

Tuesday, April 2

8:58 p.m.: A 69-year-old Gloucester man was arrested on charges of drunken driving, driving with a suspended license, a subsequent offense, and negligent driving following a two-car crash with property damage and airbags deployed at 160 Washington St., Police came across a black Lincoln sedan with heavy front-end damage, a smashed front windshield and airbags deployed on the side of the road. A gray Toyota in front of it was heavily damaged in the rear. Two men standing on the sidewalk said they were in the Lincoln, and the driver volunteered to police he did not have a license, the report said. The driver told police he thought a car had pulled out in front of him and he could not stop. Police noted the driver showed signs of intoxication. He told police he had three beers and Fireball Cinnamon Whisky while playing pool at an establishment in Gloucester. Police reported the driver did not successfully complete most of a series of field sobriety tests before he was arrested and taken to the Rockport Police Station for booking. The driver agreed to take an alcohol breath test, with a reported result above the legal blood alcohol content. In the Lincoln, police saw a six-pack of unopened Modelo beer, minus one bottle. In the pouch behind the driver’s seat, police located a silver flask full of whiskey.

8:43 p.m.: Suspicious activity was reported at Ed’s Mini Mart on Washington Street.

6:24 p.m.: Police took a report that a landlord possibly went into a Sumner Street home when the tenant was not there. This is a civil issue.

5:58 p.m.: A vehicle was vandalized with eggs and other substances on Angle Street. The log refers to charges being sought.

3:48 p.m.: A hit-and-run crash was reported on Shepherd Street at Maplewood Avenue.

3:41 p.m.: A possible crash on Route 128 northbound was reported to police.

3:09 p.m.: Debris on Holly Street was reported.

3:08 p.m.: A person came into the police station lobby to report his brother missing. He explained his brother had left his son’s house around 9 p.m. the day before after having dinner. Police called the son, who said his father left his home around 9 p.m. then took Route 3 north by mistake toward the New Hampshire Lakes Region where he was stopped by police. They escorted his father to Interstate 93 to return home, however, the report said, he took I-93 northbound instead because there were vehicles crossing the southbound side ramp. The son told police he spoke to his father around noon and the phone pinged in Georgia, Vermont. At 6 p.m., a Customs and Border Protection agent called the station to report the father was in custody. Police explained that someone would come to him and the agent said as a U.S. citizen the man had a right to leave. Police explained that he was an endangered missing person and someone would come and get him. Police got the CBP officer’s contact information and called the person who reported the missing person that border protection had his brother.

2:17 p.m.: Harassment was reported.

1:26 p.m.: A disabled vehicle was reported on Eastern Avenue at the Route 128 extension.

11:46 p.m.: A disturbance was reported on Holly Street. There were no issues and a tenant cooperated with a constable who showed up at that location.

11:40 a.m.: A man came into the station to reported his vehicle’s registration plate had been stolen. He told police he had been in a car accident in Lynn in July 2022 and his car wound up totaled. He said at some point after his car was towed, the plates were taken. The man had the plates cancelled in September 2022. However, he said he continuously receives bills from EZ Pass in New York and New Jersey. Police entered the plates into the Criminal Justice Information Services database. The man said he has been in contact with Lynn police and an officer in New York and is working with them to resolve the toll charges that have accrued as a result.

10:26 a.m.: Police at the station took a report of fraud.

9:53 a.m.: A crash on Western Avenue was under investigation.

9:29 a.m.: A crash with property damage only was reported at Summer and Orchard streets.

Thursday, April 11

11:31 p.m.: After a report was made about an issue on Kitefield Road, a search of the area did not find anything.

Traffic stops were made on Main Street at 6:26 a.m., and Broadway at 4:56 and 5:04 p.m. The drivers were all given verbal warnings.

11:44 a.m.: A motor vehicle crash was reported on Broadway.

10 a.m.: A police wellness check was conducted at a Main Street address.

9 a.m.: After a report was made about an animal on Beach Street, Public Works was notified.

8:04 a.m.: A fire alarm was reported at a High Street address, but he report later proved to be a false alarm.

Thursday, April 11

6:18 p.m.: An individual was assisted at a Central Street address.

Investigations were conducted on Pulaski Drive at 3:24 p.m., Lincoln Street at 12:34 p.m., and Magnolia Avenue at 1:32 and 4:49 p.m.

4:10 p.m.: A report was made about lost and found property at a Central Street address.

2:07 p.m.: A traffic hazard was reported at the intersection of Route 128 and School Street.

5:55 a.m.: After an alarm sounded at an address on Washington Street, the building was checked and secured.

12:13 a.m.: Aid from a utility was requested at a Crooked Lane address.

Wednesday, April 10

4:31 p.m.: A a motor vehicle crash on Eastern Avenue was reported.

10:23 a.m.: A traffic hazard was reported on John Wise Avenue.

8:54 a.m.: An individual was assisted at a John Wise Avenue address.

Tuesday, April 9

Medical emergencies: Individuals, both of whom fell, were taken to a hospital from Western Avenue at 8:08 and 9:19 p.m.

6:52 p.m.: A police investigation was conducted at a John Wise Avenue address.

2:27 p.m.: Suspicious activity was reported at a Pond Street address.

10:56 a.m.: A traffic hazard at the intersection of Route 128 and School Street was reported.

7:17 a.m.: A complaint was made about an animal on Island Road.
