On the night of the incident, police said Eddens was walking in and out of traffic near Alameda and San Marcial in South Central El Paso.

EPPD appears to be handling the release of information on this case similarly to an officer-involved shooting from March 5.

During that incident, a patrol officer shot and killed a man after approaching a car parked in a carwash.

The man told the officer he was having car trouble, and a few moments later, he told the officer he had a gun.

Then the man started to threaten the officer, asking him if he wanted to make it home that night.

In that case, EPPD released information three weeks later.

Police also released body camera footage from that incident, KFOX14 has asked police if they will be releasing body camera footage in this incident but has not heard back.
