KUWAIT CITY, April 28: Kuwait Club Zain Premier League campaign gained momentum as it overcame a formidable adversary, Al-Qadisiya, securing a crucial 2-0 victory in the fourth-round clash at Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium.

With this win, Kuwait Club surged to 53 points, solidifying its position atop the league standings, while Al-Qadisiya remained at 46 points in third place.

In another matchup, Al-Arabi bolstered its pursuit of Kuwait Club with a 2-0 win against Al-Fahaheel, elevating its tally to 50 points.

Kuwait Club dominated proceedings from the outset, imposing its style on the game with a determined display. Youssef Nasser opened the scoring just six minutes into the match, capitalizing on Al-Qadisiya’s defensive lapses. He later doubled the lead from the penalty spot after Al-Qadisiya’s Victor fouled Bahraini Mohammed Al-Marhoon.

Kuwait Club’s Tunisian coach, Nabil Maaloul, credited the victory to the players’ discipline and high spirits, emphasizing the significance of securing three points in its title defense quest. He highlighted the challenge posed by Al-Qadisiya’s tactical adjustments but praised his team’s resilience.

Maaloul stressed the importance of maintaining focus, especially with a crucial clash against Al-Arabi looming in the fifth round.

In contrast, Al-Qadisiya coach Muhammad Al-Mishaan lamented his team’s lack of concentration and its inability to recover after conceding early goals. He attributed the loss to individual errors and emphasized the importance of addressing these shortcomings.

Al-Mishaan acknowledged the uphill battle ahead but remained optimistic about Al-Qadisiya’s chances, contingent upon results from other matches. He affirmed the team’s commitment to preparation for the upcoming Amir Cup final against Salmiya, aiming to maintain its competitive edge.
