A crowd gathered between Texas Lutheran University’s Langer Hall and Scheuch Fine Arts Center cheered in admiration as curtains dropped to reveal a colorful mural designed to help connect the local university with the Seguin community.

Designed and painted by artist Danielle Villarreal, the Building Bridges mural on the south side of Scheuch Fine Arts Center incorporates artwork that represents the Mexican American community, the university’s students and faculty and Seguin, said Cesar Silva, Texas Lutheran assistant professor for Mexican American Studies and the director of CMAS (Center for Mexican American Studies).
