Snapchat

Q1 financials season is in full swing, with Snapchat’s parent company Snap publishing its latest numbers yesterday. Lots of those numbers are up too: Snap’s revenues grew 21% year-on-year to $1.19bn in Q1, while its daily active users climbed 10% to 422 million.

Time spent watching its TikTok-like ‘Spotlight’ feed spiked more than 125% year-on-year too, while the number of people paying for the Snapchat+ subscription tier more than tripled to nine million.

Alongside all this, Snapchat got a new augmented-reality lens from one of the biggest current music stars, Billie Eilish. Unveiled yesterday, it gives fans a first listen to ‘L’Amour De Ma Vie’ from Eilish’s upcoming album, and encourages fans to use the lens to record their reactions to the song.

With influencers already jumping on the lens, and more than 300 million people using Snapchat’s AR features on a daily basis, the track should get wide reach.
