China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) issued a notice in 2023, requiring all smartphone applications (apps) to be filed at the authority, and those apps that were available before the notice was issued needed to complete the filing by April 2024. According to Hong Kong media, some local banks are still unable to complete the filing process because they have not met the requirements, but so far they have not been formally notified by the authorities of the removal of the apps from the market.
