A Lowell man called police to tell them he had fatally shot his wife and daughter before shooting himself early Saturday morning, police said.
The man, who has not been publicly identified, called 911 at about 6:40 a.m. Saturday morning reporting that he has shot his wife and child inside a Warren Street apartment, Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan said in a press release.
Lowell police responded to the apartment and found a deceased woman and female child inside. The man who called was also found dead from an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound, officials said.
An investigation into the deaths is being conducted by the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, State Police, and the Lowell Police Department.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death, the D.A.’s office said.
The identities of those who died are not being released, officials said.
