COLUMBUS, Miss. (WTVA) – A 17-year-old Popeyes worker in Columbus, Mississippi was assaulted Saturday.

The assault occurred around 11 p.m., according to a police report shared by the family with WTVA News.

Family members of the 17-year-old worker say a man came through the drive-thru with his girlfriend, who happens to be a store manager.

They say the man had a gun sitting in his lap, and they add that he picked up the gun with a light attached to it.

He then shined the light into the store.

Family members say the man and girl exchanged words when she addressed the gun.

The man then went inside the store and hit the girl in the face.

The man has not been identified, but the family says he is 21 years old.

WTVA News has reached out to the Columbus Police Department about the incident but has not heard back.
