'He needs a gag order': Internet shreds Fox News host Jesse Watters as he rants Trump is being treated worse than Gitmo prisoner

NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Jesse Watters of Fox News condemned the hush money case against Donald Trump as "pure evil," launching into a passionate tirade about the treatment of the former president.

Trump, who has pleaded not guilty to 34 counts of falsifying business records to conceal payments related to affairs, is restricted in his movements and speech during the trial.

“So, they’ve taken away his freedom of speech, and now they have taken away his freedom of movement. He has to sit there all week for six weeks. And if he says anything, they’ll throw him in jail. If he leaves, they throw him in jail," Watters said.

He continued, "That’s crazy! I mean, they had more allowances for Khalid Sheikh Mohammed. I think they bought a million-dollar soccer field for the people in Gitmo. I don’t know if Khalid Sheikh Mohammed was able to visit his son for his high school graduation, but it’s similar,” as per Mediaite.

To add context, 'Gitmo prisoner' typically refers to detainees held at the Guantanamo Bay detention camp, also known as Gitmo.

This camp is a United States military prison located within Guantanamo Bay Naval Base in Cuba. It gained significant attention and controversy due to its use in detaining individuals suspected of terrorism or involvement with terrorist organizations, particularly in the aftermath of the September 11, 2001 attacks.

Watters questions legality and fairness of imposed restrictions

Watters continued his critique, emphasizing the stark contrast between the restrictions imposed on Trump during his trial and the perceived leniency afforded to other individuals in legal proceedings.

"They’re freezing him to death; they’re putting him in a meat locker. He says it’s like 45 degrees in there," he said. 

He continued saying:  "And, they’re putting his life in danger. And they’re telling the entire world, all the wackos, “This is where the former president is going to be at this date, at this time, surrounded by high-rise buildings.” And, then they’re seizing his bank accounts with these unreasonable fines, unreasonable bond asks. It’s disgusting."

"They say it’s a fraud, but under existing election law, candidates can’t use campaign funds for an expense that would exist anyway. Even if it benefits the campaign."

"So wait a second. I don’t understand. If it’s illegal to use campaign funds for personal issues, but it’s also illegal to use personal funds for personal issues during a campaign, what was Donald Trump supposed to do? Either way, he’s going to get prosecuted. That just means it’s illegal for Donald Trump to be a candidate, is what they’re saying."

"What was he supposed to do? He’s going to use donor money to deal with an extortion attempt from a woman? ‘Cause it’s pure extortion. This is a woman who’s a porn star who owes Trump 600 grand already for frivolous lawsuits, and she was represented by a guy who’s in prison for extortion, Michael Avenatti. And the star witness, the other lawyer, is a lying felon who’s in prison! And this is the case." 

Social media slams Jesse Watters for Trump-Gitmo comparison

Watters faced a barrage of backlash on social media after his Trump-Gitmo remarks.

One more person wrote, "When Trump gets waterboarded, maybe I'll listen to the comparison."
