Longtime UNO men's basketball head coach Mark Slessinger leaving Lakefront for Indiana State
IT’S TOUGH SEEING THOSE IMAGES, DAMON, ESPECIALLY EVEN THINK ABOUT THE FOLKS STILL FROM THE STORM THAT TOUCHED DOWN, THE TORNADOES THAT TOUCHED DOWN BACK IN SLIDELL. BUT LOOKING AHEAD TO THE WEATHER TODAY, THE VISIBILITY HAS BEEN THE MAIN CONCERN FOR FOLKS ACROSS SOUTHEAST LOUISIANA, RIGHT? YEAH. AND KEEP IN MIND THE NUMBER OF TORNADOES IN THAT AREA HAS INCREASED QUITE A BIT IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE, LIKE EIGHT TORNADOES POSSIBLY MOVE THROUGH THERE FOR US THIS MORNING. WE’RE STARTING OUT WITH SOME FOG, AND WE’VE BEEN DEALING WITH A LITTLE BIT OF THAT JUST ABOUT EVERY MORNING. BUT I GUESS WE’RE A LITTLE MORE SIGNIFICANT THIS MORNING. TWO MILES VISIBILITY IN HAMMOND, THREE MILES IN SLIDELL AND IN GULFPORT AND THREE MILES DOWN HERE OVER IN HOUMA AS WELL. TAKE A LOOK AT THE WATER VAPOR IMAGERY, AND YOU CAN SEE SOME OF THE STORMS THAT WERE JUST MAKING REFERENCE TO IN THE MIDWEST, BUT ALSO MAKING THEIR WAY ACROSS THE OHIO VALLEY FROM YESTERDAY. AND THE LAST COUPLE OF DAYS. SOME OF THIS VERY STORMY WEATHER HAS BEEN WREAKING HAVOC ACROSS THIS ENTIRE REGION FROM WEDNESDAY ACROSS THE OHIO VALLEY INTO THE AREA ON YOUR THURSDAY, AND YOU CAN SEE THE SYMBOLOGY, THE RED INDICATING THE TORNADIC ACTIVITY OR A FUNNEL CLOUD. THE REST OF THESE ARE FLOODING, RAINFALL, VERY STRONG WINDS AND HAIL THAT MOVE THROUGH THAT AREA AS WELL. OVER THE COURSE OF A. YESTERDAY AND IN PART SOME WEDNESDAY FOR US, THERE’S NO SIGNIFICANT RAINFALL AROUND THE FRONTAL BOUNDARY THAT’S BRINGING THE RAINFALL STILL JUST TO THE WEST OF US. NOT AS MUCH CLOUD COVER THIS MORNING AS WHAT WE SAW THE LAST COUPLE OF DAYS. AND YOU CAN SEE PRETTY CLEARLY WHERE THAT FRONTAL BOUNDARY IS, ESPECIALLY CONSIDERING OKLAHOMA CITY IS AT 48 DEGREES RIGHT NOW IN SHREVEPORT AT 72. SO IT’S A MUCH COOLER AIR BEHIND THAT FRONT. BUT I’M NOT EXPECTING OUR TEMPERATURES TO DROP OFF TOO DRAMATICALLY. I THINK WE’RE GOING TO NOTICE A BIG DIFFERENCE ON SUNDAY, BUT THE TEMPERATURES ARE GOING TO RISE BACK UP QUICKLY OVER THE THE COUPLE OF DAYS INTO NEXT WEEK. FOR TODAY, THOUGH, THE WINDS REMAIN OUT OF THE SOUTH. THEY’RE RELATIVELY LIGHT FOR MOST OF THE DAY TODAY. SO THE WARMTH AND THE MOISTURE CONTINUES TO FILTER INTO SOUTHEAST LOUISIANA FROM THE GULF OF MEXICO. SO THE HUMIDITY IS STILL GOING TO BE HIGH. WE’RE GOING TO HAVE SOME CLOUD COVER. BUT I THINK AGAIN, A LITTLE MORE SUNSHINE TODAY. FISHERMEN AND FISHERWOMEN. YOU’RE PROBABLY NOT GOING TO LIKE THESE NUMBERS MUCH AT ALL. JUST ABOUT NEAP TIDES ACROSS SOUTHEAST LOUISIANA TO 4/10 OF A FOOT OVER IN GRAND ISLE. AND A HALF A FOOT AT THE RIGOLETS AND THE SOUTHWEST PASS. AND THERE YOUR LOW TIDE AND YOUR HIGH TIDE TIMES THIS MORNING OVER AT THE AIRPORT RIGHT NOW, SOME PARTLY TO MOSTLY CLOUDY CONDITIONS 71 DEGREES. THE TEMPERATURE DEW POINTS AT 71 DEGREES. BETWEEN THOSE TWO MEANS THE HUMIDITY IS VERY HIGH AND THE WINDS ARE ONLY BLOWING AT ABOUT THREE MILES PER HOUR. SO SOME FOG ISSUES OUT IN THAT DIRECTION. OVER IN HOUMA, 70 IS THE TEMPERATURE AND THEN 70 IS THE DEW POINT 98% HUMIDITY. THE VISIBILITY AT THREE MILES BECAUSE OF THE FOG OUT IN THAT DIRECTION, MILD AND HUMID CONDITIONS THAT THE KIDS ARE UP AND GETTING READY FOR THE BUS STOP THIS MORNING. THE RADAR PICTURE IS NICE AND CLEAR. YOUR TEMPERATURES ARE IN THE UPPER 60S TO THE LOW 70S, AND THIS AFTERNOON UNDER SOME MOSTLY SUNNY TO PARTLY CLOUDY SKIES, I’M EXPECTING MOST OF US TO FIND OURSELVES IN THE MID 80S, BUT ACROSS THE BOARD SOME MID TO THE UPPER 80S. SO A WARM IF NOT HOT DAY TODAY. AND I’M THINKING TOMORROW MORNING WE’LL WAKE TO TEMPERATURES VERY SIMILAR TO WHERE THEY ARE THIS MORNING. AND THEN THE UPPER 60S TO LOW 70S, SOME PARTLY TO MOSTLY CLOUDY SKIES. BETTER CHANCE OF RAINFALL IN THE FORECAST FOR YOUR SATURDAY, BUT ONLY 20 TO 30% WITH YOUR TEMPERATURES IN THE AFTERNOON ON SATURDAY RISING INTO THE MID 80S ONCE AGAIN. AND THEN HERE’S THE RAINFALL MAKING ITS WAY INTO OUR AREA ON SUNDAY, 3 A.M. A LINE OF SHOWERS AND STORMS MOVES ACROSS PRIMARILY THE NORTH SHORE INTO THOSE EARLY MORNING HOURS ON SUNDAY. SOME SCATTERED RAINFALL IN THE MID MORNING HOURS IN THE AFTERNOON MIGHT CLEAR OUT PRETTY NICELY FOR SUNDAY. SOME SUNNY SKIES IN THE AFTERNOON, YOUR TEMPERATURES IN THE MID 60S, SO A BIG CHANGE IN OUR TEMPERATURES THEN. HERE’S A QUICK LOOK AT YOUR WDSU FIRST WARNING SEVEN DAY FORECAST. THERE’S THE RAINFALL ON SUNDAY. BETTER CONDITIONS ON MON
