Wamego freshman pitcher Landri Adams keeps an eye on Rock Creek’s batter during a game earlier this season.

Wamego softball had its 11-game win streak snapped on Tuesday night in a split with Silver Lake, putting a slight blemish on a prized week of pitching.

The Lady Raiders (14-2) were backed by strong pitching from Tennessee commit Peyton Hardenburger and freshman Landri Adams on Friday. They took part in a pair of pitcher’s duals against McPherson and Southeast of Saline, winning 3-1 and 2-0, respectively.

Against McPherson, Hardenburger pitched a two-hitter with 20 strikeouts, with one unearned run coming across.

Then, against Southeast of Saline, Adams stole the show by tossing a perfect game with 11 strikeouts. Adams has burst onto the scene in her first year with the Lady Raiders, excelling alongside Hardenburger.

Against Silver Lake, the Lady Raiders opened with a 6-0 win, but the Eagles broke through for a 13-6 win to earn a split.

In the opener, Hardenburger tossed a one-hitter with 16 strikeouts while Alana McCarthy led the way offensively. McCarthy, another freshman, went 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored. Adams was nabbed for 10 earned runs, pitching all seven innings in the matchup.

Rock Creek vs. Riley County

The Mustangs picked up their seventh straight win on Monday after a winning pair against Riley County. Each team had the last week off prior to their doubleheader.

Rock Creek (15-3) won 11-4 in the opener behind a red-hot day at the plate from Brooklyn Plummer. The senior went 5-for-5 with four runs scored and another two batted in. Brynna Zoeller got the win for the Mustangs with seven innings with five strikeouts.

The Falcons (4-7) didn’t find an answer in the second matchup, falling 16-0 in five innings after a 12-run third inning by Rock Creek.

Plummer went 3-for-4 while Acelyn Rottinghaus went deep twice en route to picking up five RBI. Rottinghaus also picked up the win after yielding just one hit and striking out nine batters in a complete five-inning shutout.

Valley Heights

After being swept by Onaga last week, the Mustangs (11-5) bounced back in a big way with a sweep of Centralia on Monday before a split against Doniphan West

Paige Miller tossed a pair of gems against Centralia leading to 6-2 and 7-3 victories.

In the opener, she finished with seven innings of five-hit baseball while fanning 12 batters and allowing just one earned run. She went back to the mound for the second game, pitching all seven innings again and fanning another 11 batters.

Against Doniphan West, the Mustangs fell 3-2 in the first game before finishing the night with an 8-5 win. Miller tossed both games again, totaling 14 innings with 16 strikeouts.

Blue Valley vs. Wabaunsee

The Chargers (5-11) have picked up momentum following a sour start to their campaign, earning a four-game win streak with a sweep of Blue Valley and Lebo.

The Rams (0-8) weren’t able to pick up their first win of the season against Wabaunsee, falling 7-0 and 15-2 during Friday’s contests.

In the opener, Hannah Sievers and Meredith Denton led the way for the Chargers with three-hit games each. Ava Meinhardt stole the show on the mound, pitching a two-hitter with 13 strikeouts in a complete game shutout.

Kirsten Allison got the Rams on the board in the second game, but it wouldn’t be enough as the Mustang offense exploded.

Sarah Denton put up fours across the box score with a 4-for-4 game, including four runs scored and four RBI. Meredith Denton turned in an impressive performance, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and three runs scored.

Wabaunsee kept things rolling when it won 5-2 and 7-5 in Monday’s home contest against Lebo. They’ll face St. Marys on Thursday.
