West Valley man seriously injured after motorcycle crash

The crash happened near the intersection of 51st and Olive avenues on Saturday afternoon. Here are the latest details.

GLENDALE, Ariz. — A Valley man is in a hospital after suffering major injuries in a motorcycle crash, according to Glendale police

The crash happened at about 2:30 p.m. on Saturday near the intersection of 51st and Olive avenues. Police said a man and woman were on the motorcycle when the driver lost control, leading to the crash. The motorcycle was the only vehicle involved in the crash. 

The man has life-threatening injuries and the woman has minor injuries, according to police. 

Police also said that both the north and southbound lanes of 51st Avenue are closed from Olive Avenue to Mountain View Road and will be for several hours as the crash is investigated. 

Drivers are asked to use 43rd Avenue or 59th Avenue as detours around the crash.  

No one involved in the crash has been identified.
