Northwest Wisconsin Champions 9U Flag Football team wins regional title

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) - The Northwest Wisconsin Champion’s 9u team captured a NFL Flag Super Regional title in Kansas City last weekend. The Kansas City Chiefs hosted the NFL Flag regional event at Arrowhead Stadium. Six local youth teams from NWC had the opportunity to go compete and one team came back with the championship win. The 9U team ended up going 3-0 in the first round making it to the championship game. In the final game with two minutes left, the score was 14-13. Down by 1 point, Kasten Asher intercepted a pass and scored to give them the lead. They ended up winning 21-14. The big win earned them the champion title, team rings, and a spot in the NFL Flag Nationals tournament in Canton, Ohio July 19-21. The event will be broadcast on ESPN and Disney. The other five teams will have a chance to earn a spot for nationals when they compete at the Green Bay NFL flag regional in May.
