Jeremiah Trotter Jr. lingered a bit longer than he probably would’ve liked. But the wait was likely worth it for the NFL Draft prospect linebacker.

Trading up with the Indianapolis Colts, the Philadelphia Eagles—the team Trotter’s father played eight seasons for—selected the Clemson star and former St. Joseph’s Prep standout 155th overall in the fifth round of the 2024 NFL Draft.

The Eagles official Twitter account knew fans would be happy with the selection, tweeting “Think you were all waiting for this one.”

Trotter Jr. was projected to go in the fourth round by NFL.com, with a grade of 6.29 denoting “will eventually be an average NFL starter.”

A two-time second-team All-American at Clemson, Trotter Jr. recorded 12 sacks and four interceptions over the past two seasons, but fell in the draft due to concerns about size and athleticism, as he stands just 6-feet tall and 228 pounds.

His father Jeremiah Sr. played 11 seasons in the NFL and made four Pro Bowls, as the linebacker out of Stephen F. Austin was a hard-hitting star and fan favorite in Philadelphia.

Trotter Jr. was a teammate at. St. Joe’s Prep in high school with Marvin Harrison Jr. who was selected fourth overall in the draft by the Arizona Cardinals.

His high school tweeted out a congratulations to the alum, reading “Congratulations to Jeremiah Trotter Jr. ‘21 on being selected 155th overall by the Philadelphia Eagles in the 5th round of the NFL Draft! #GoPrep.”
