AT A SPECIAL MEETING LAST WEEK, THE OKLAHOMA CITY PUBLIC SCHOOL BOARD REVIEWED 20 APPLICANTS, INCLUDING IN AND OUT OF STATE CANDIDATES. A special meeting is set up for Wednesday afternoon at the Skirvin Hotel to interview potential candidates who could take over after Superintendent Sean McDaniel's resignation takes effect this summer.

During a meeting last week, the OKCPS board reviewed 20 applications, including candidates from in and out of Oklahoma. District officials said they're looking for a leader who is forward-thinking, values the voice of teachers and has a connection to Oklahoma.

"That's really what we want in a superintendent – someone who is willing to come in, roll up their sleeves and get to work," OKCPS Board Chair Paula Lewis said in March.
