Woman dies after Wednesday morning I-85 crash

MACON COUNTY, Ala. (WSFA) - A Georgia woman is dead following a morning crash on Interstate 85.

Alabama Law Enforcement Agency State Troopers responded to reports of a crash near mile marker 34, about two miles north of Franklin, around 5:30 a.m. Authorities say the car left the road, then hit a ditch and several trees before flipping over.

The driver, Carey B. Chambers, 45, of Columbus, Georgia, was transported to Baptist Medical Center East in Montgomery in critical condition. She succumbed to her injuries at the hospital and was pronounced dead.

No further information is available as ALEA Troopers continue to investigate.
