2 hospitalized, 3 dogs dead after RV fire erupts in Grants Pass

UPDATE, April 29 at 7:45 a.m.: Rural Metro Fire confirmed that a third dog has been found dead. The fourth dog is currently being cared for by Rural Metro Fire. One person has suffered a severe burn while the other has minor burns. The Oregon State Fire Marshal is still investigating.


GRANTS PASS, Ore. - An early morning RV fire broke out in the 1000 block of Plumtree Lane Monday morning.

Rural Metro Fire, Grants Pass Fire and AMR-Josephine County responded to the area around 2:29 a.m. Rural Metro Fire’s Public Information Officer Austin Prince shared with NewsWatch 12 that two people are injured with burns. Both were transported to a hospital.

Firefighters discovered two dead dogs within the RV and found a third dog that is alive. The condition of the third dog is unknown but crews are waiting for Animal Control to arrive.

Rural Metro Fire confirmed there is no immediate threat to the public or the surrounding brush. The Oregon State Fire Marshal is leading the investigation.
