Succession star Matthew Macfadyen has lined up his next TV role in a series named The Miniature Wife.

Best known for his Emmy-winning turn as in HBO's comedy drama, Macfadyen is set to star opposite Elizabeth Banks in the Peacock show, which is also a dramedy (via TVLine).

The Miniature Wife has been given a straight-to-series order with both Banks and Macfadyen also executive producing.

According to The Miniature Wife's official description, the dramedy is a “high-concept marital dramedy examining the power (im)balances between spouses Lindy (Banks) and Les (Macfadyen) who battle each other for supremacy after a technological accident induces the ultimate relationship crisis."

The series, which was created and will also be executive-produced by Jennifer Ames and Steve Turner, is based on a short story by Manuel Gonzalez.

Macfadyen has also recently joined Netflix's Death by Lightning alongside Nick Offerman. The assassination drama is based on Candice Millard's best-selling book Destiny of the Republic, which examined the tragic story of US President James Garfield.

Banks' upcoming projects include medical drama A Mistake alongside Snowpiercer star Mickey Sumner.

A synopsis of the movie, as reported by Cornerstone Film, reads: "Elizabeth is a gifted surgeon – the only female consultant at her hospital. But while operating on a young woman, something goes horribly wrong.

"In the midst of a new scheme to publicly report surgeons' performance, her colleagues begin to close ranks, and Elizabeth's life is thrown into disarray. Tough and abrasive, Elizabeth has survived and succeeded in this most demanding field. But can she survive a single mistake?"

Succession aired on HBO in the US and is available on Sky Atlantic and NOW in the UK.
