New Orleans police make arrest in deadly Algiers shooting

The NOPD is investigating a homicide in Algiers.

The New Orleans Police Department has made an arrest in connection with a deadly shooting near an Algiers playground Monday. The NOPD announced Thursday morning that Nayiondra A. Woolridge, 32, was arrested in connection with the shooting that killed Brittany Ussin, 25, in the 300 block of Ptolemy Street. The shooting stemmed from a fight near the McDonough playground around 7 p.m. Ussin and Wooldridge were captured on video fighting before shots were fired. Wooldridge was booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center on charges of second-degree murder and aggravated assault.
