For sale: the dresses Princess Diana wore at her most daring

Jacques Azagury was one of the princess’s favourite designers in her later years. He made a duplicate at the time of each dress’s creation and is now putting them up for sale

Towards the end of her life Diana, Princess of Wales, began to make bold statements with her clothing to reassert her place and power in the royal family after the damaging divorce from the Prince of Wales.

Where she had once been the demure and dutiful royal wife and mother, wearing elegant but safe choices, she became an increasingly glamorous celebrity unshackled from royal protocol and showing more leg than any mother of a future king had possibly dared before.

Five “twin” dresses of perhaps Princess Diana’s most iconic outfits are now being sold by the fashion designer who worked with her in her final years.
