MANCHESTER — Local police are investigating the cause of a two-car crash Tuesday that left an unidentified female driver with serious injuries, officials said.
The accident was at the corner of Maple and Amherst streets at roughly 10:30 a.m.
Officials said the woman was driving a blue Jeep sedan west on Amherst Street when she was struck by a man driving a gray-colored SUV and heading north on Maple Street.
The impact of the crash pushed the Jeep into a utility pole, shearing it off near the base.
Manchester fire officials needed to use the Jaws of Life equipment to get the woman out of the Jeep, officials said.
She was taken to Elliot Hospital for treatment of her injuries.
The other driver was able to get out of his car on his own and was not injured, officials said.
A large section of Maple Street was closed to investigate the accident.
Police cleared the scene after a few hours but Eversource officials were still working there Tuesday afternoon to replace the pole.
