Kandi Burruss and Tameka “Tiny” Harris have another hit on their resume. The songwriting duo behind TLC’s “No Scrubs,” and producer Kevin Briggs, are officially credited as writers on Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You.”
As noted by the BBC, Sheeran’s hit single has been called out over its similarities to “No Scrubs.” To possibly circumvent a “Blurred Lines” debacle, performance rights organization, ASCAP, added Burrus, Harris, and Briggs, to the song’s list of contributors.
Sheeran, Steve Mac, and Johnny McDaid of Snow Patrol, were originally credited on “Shape of You,” but there appears to be no hard feelings on the side of Burruss and Harris.
The Xcape singers recently took to social media to acknowledge their latest writing credit.
“Shape of You,” the lead single from Sheeran’s Divide LP, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard singles charts where it stayed for seven consecutive weeks.
