Man sentenced to 30 months

Charged with cyberstalking Canfield Twp. victim

CLEVELAND — A Youngstown man was sentenced to 30 months in federal prison Tuesday after pleading guilty earlier to cyberstalking a Canfield Township resident.

Didier Saint Julien, 46, of East Lucius Avenue, received the sentence Tuesday from Judge Dan A. Polster. Saint Julien gets credit for the 10 months he has been awaiting trial in the Mahoning County jail since Aug. 9.

He will be on three years supervised release after prison and is ordered to make restitution of $1,000.

Saint Julien stalked, harrassed and intimidated the victim beginning in April 2018, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Ohio stated when St. Julien was indicted last year.

Saint Julien made numerous comments on the victim’s Facebook and Instagram pages beginning last year and tried to make physical contact with the victim numerous times. He also took pictures of the victim’s car, according to court documents.

Saint Julien also attempted to contact the victim’s relatives numerous times. The victim successfully sought a civil stalking protection order that commanded him not to initiate or have any contact with the victim or the victim’s relatives. The next day, Saint Julien texted the victim, according to court documents.

Saint Julien began creating social media accounts under a false name in May 2019 and attempted to contact the victim, the documents state.

The Mahoning County Sheriff’s Office filed a misdemeanor charge of violating a protection order against Saint Julien in May 2019 in Mahoning County Area Court in Canfield, but the charge was dismissed in August 2019 when federal officials charged him.

Judge Molly Johnson ordered in May 2019 that St. Julien be on electronically monitored house arrest at his East Lucius Avenue residence.

In August 2019, an evaluation determined that Saint Julien was competent to stand trial. The investigation preceding Saint Julien’s indictment was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
