Suspect in custody after Edmonson County standoff

UPDATE: Kentucky State Police, Post 3 Bowling Green say they responded to the 7000 Block of Black Gold Road in Edmonson County shortly after 7:00 a.m. Wednesday morning.

Police tell 13 News they were searching for Christopher Spencer, 40 as he had several outstanding warrants for his arrest.

When troopers arrived, they found an unoccupied truck at the trailer home which had been reported as "stolen" by the Warren County Sheriff's Department.

That's when police say several attempts to communicate and call Spencer out of the trailer were unsuccessful, and Spencer refused to exit the residence.

Police say right after 3:57 p.m., after multiple rounds of gas canisters were deployed into the home, Spencer exited.

State Police say he refused to obey verbal commands to comply and lay on the ground. Spencer was tased was by a member of Kentucky State Police Special Response Team, and taken into custody without further incident.

Spencer was arrested and transported to the Warren County Regional Jail by Master Trooper Terry Alexander, and charged with the following violations:

Executing warrant for Meade County for failure to appear in court

Execution of complaint warrant Jefferson County Court for Assault 4th degree (domestic violence)

Execution of complaint warrant Jefferson County Court for Assault 4th degree (domestic violence) and Criminal Mischief 3rd degree

Resisting Arrest

Troopers on scene were assisted by Edmonson County EMS, Edmonson County Sheriff’s Department, and Brownsville City Police Department

An arrest warrant says that Spencer is allegedly the suspect that assaulted two BGPD officers. Spencer was tased, but then fled and allegedly stole the Black Chevy Avalanche.
