He tried to turn another press conference into a media circus.
Howard Stern Show writer Benjy Bronk interrupted a highly-anticipated news conference Friday afternoon with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell with one of his now-familiar outbursts before he was led out of the room.
Entering from the same door Goodell came through, Bronk casually strolled up to the podium where the commissioner was speaking about a half hour into the event. Wearing a cap and holding another cap in his hand, Bronk was immediately swarmed by about eight security guards and league executives.
“What are you doing? What are you doing?” he screamed as he was dragged out. “Don’t take me to an elevator!” he yelled, mocking the video showing Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice punching his then-fiancee in a hotel elevator.
During the ensuing struggle, Bronk yanked the curtain that provided the backdrop to the podium and almost tore it down.
After Benjy was booted from the Goodell presser, he went downstairs and tried to disrupts a CBS broadcast.
Bronk has been a spectacle at other press events, notably in 2011 when then-Congressman Anthony Weiner announced his resignation amid a sex scandal.
During Weiner’s serious speech, Bronk leaped from his seat and asked the scandal-scarred former mayoral candidate lewd questions.
“Will you maintain your hot physique and smooth sexy chest?” he had shouted.
He was referring to the now-infamous shirtless picture of himself in his boxers he posted to Twitter that sunk his political ambitions.
When Bronk gets up to his press conference antics, he doesn’t ask Stern for permission, the Shock Jock has said on air. He finds out about it along with everyone else, and says he wouldn’t approve the antics.
During Friday’s incident, Bronk-weary journalists rolled their eyes and groaned when the itinerant interrupter appeared.
Goodell appeared to try to rectify concerns and outrage about recent sexual abuse cases that have rocked the NFL. He promised to change the way the league tackles domestic violence issues.
He didn’t seem fazed by Bronk’s behavior and continued taking questions after the outburst.
