Selena Gomez is allowing black leaders to access and use her Instagram account.

Gomez is an active supporter of #BlackLivesMatter. On Thursday (June 4), the “Kill Em With Kindness” singer announced that she would be giving black leaders the chance to manage her Instagram acount. Gomez has a massive following of 178 million on the platform. In fact, she was once the most followed person on Instagram.

“I have been struggling to know the right things to say to get the word out about this important moment in history. After thinking about how best to use my social media, I decided that we all need to hear more from Black voices,” Gomez wrote on Instagram.

“Over the next few days I will be highlighting influentials [sic] leaders and giving them a chance to take over my Instagram so that they can speak directly to all of us. We all have an obligation to do better and we can start by listening with an open heart and mind.”

Gomez previously joined Blackout Tuesday. The “Boyfriend” hitmaker did not post a black square on her Instagram account unlike other artists. However, she decided to shut down her website and urged her fans to support the Black Lives Matter movement.

“It’s my hope today you are taking the time to do some introspective thinking about how we can all come together and listen to one another with an open heart and mind,” Gomez wrote.

“The country is long overdue for meaningful changes to our broken society. Black lives matter.”

Rihanna also did the same. The “Umbrella” singer closed her shop for her brand Fenty. She also pledged to make a donation to Color of Change and Movement for Black Lives.

Singers Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears, Katy Perry and Justin Bieber all posted black squares on their social media accounts. They joined forces to mute their social media fees to promote equality and justice.

Countless celebrities have already voiced out their support toward the black community following the death of George Floyd. Billie Eilish also spoke up on the issue and reminded white people how privileged they are. The “Bad Guy” singer also slammed the “all lives matter” argument that surfaced amid the #BlackLivesMatter campaign.
