5.2 Things You Have To Know About Digital Marketing

Hear tips from 4 digital marketing experts on how to improve your online marketing practices!

We recently brought together 4 experts from the world of digital marketing at the Maryland Center for Entrepreneurship to share their knowledge.

Our guest panelists included Tom Coale, founder of the blog HoCo Rising; Lisa Ninosky, Director of Marketing for Len The Plumber; Duane Carey, President of IMPACT Marketing & Public Relations; and John Sherman, CEO of Storyfarm.

These are the top 5.2 takeaways for any company looking to start, improve, or expand their digital marketing efforts.

#1 Create and Manage Your Brand Image

When creating a digital media campaign it is important to remember that this may be that user’s first impression of your brand; so do it well or don’t do it at all. Good marketing professionals will mix their own personality into the message to help make the posts feel more human and welcoming, while still asserting themselves as an expert. By providing your followers with useful information, education, and entertainment, you will be given the opportunity to engage and build a positive relationship with them.

#2 Data is King

People who try to do digital marketing without understanding the data are just going to end up wasting time and money, so make sure you understand, and are connecting with, your target market. Who are you clients and customers, where did they come from, and how do you get more of them? These are three questions you should continually ask yourself.

There is a wealth of free information available online to track your customers and determine how new people are currently finding you. Look into Google Analytics, AdWords, and Webmaster tools, to find out how people are getting to, and using your website. Look at the data provided by email providers and social media outlets to help you determine the content your audience engages with the most. Then build your campaign around that type of content.
