Photos of celebrities spending their weekend in Michigan at the return of the state’s biggest comic con

NOVI, MI - The pop culture frenzy known as Motor City Comic Con made a triumphant return this weekend after a two and a half year hiatus due to COVID. Celebrities galore spent all weekend in Michigan taking photos with fans and signing autographs at Michigan’s largest comic con.

The event, which is usually held each May, took place at the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi. It was cancelled in 2020 and postponed this year. The 2019 event drew 70,000 people from all over the country.

The event is known for its many artists and vendors and gaming. A lot of people also enjoy meeting some of their favorite celebrities and attending panels. This event featured stars from “The Mandalorian,” “The Boys,” “Lord of the Rings,” “Smallville” and much more. Here’s a look at MLive’s favorite celebrity encounters.

Power couple Ice-T and Coco were among the most popular celebrities at this year’s event. Some of you know the couple from their reality TV show. Others know Ice-T as a legendary rapper or an actor on the hit show “Law & Order: SVU.”

Actor Elijah Wood was one of the big draws at Motor City Comic Con 2021. You know him as Frodo in the “Lord of the Rings” movie trilogy. He’s also starred in numerous films including “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind,” “Sin City,” “Everything is Illuminated” and “Green Street.”

Check out actor Giancarlo Esposito. He currently stars in three hit shows: “The Mandalorian,” “Better Call Saul,” and “The Boys.” You also know him as Gus Fring on “Breaking Bad,” a role he’s reprising in the prequel show, “Better Call Saul.”

This actress also stars in “The Mandalorian.” Ming-Na Wen was one of the celebrities with long lines of fans waiting to meet her at this event. You also know her from the animated musical “Mulan” and as Melinda May in the the hit TV series, “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” She was also in “The Joy Luck Club,” “Street Fighter” and “ER.”

Actress Erin Moriarty was one of three celebrities in attendance from the hit Amazon Prime show, “The Boys.” She plays Annie January / Starlight on the series which is going into its third season. You may also know her from her roles in “Jessica Jones,” “True Detective” and “Red Widow.” Actor Antony Starr, who plays “Homelander” on “The Boys” was also at this event.
