17-Year-Old to be Charged as Adult in South Jersey Teen's Murder: Prosecutor

The case of the teen accused of shooting 13-year-old Nathaniel Plummer Jr. was waived to adult court on Thursday.

A 17-year-old Camden girl charged in connection with a shooting that killed 13-year-old Nathaniel Plummer Jr. will be tried as an adult, Camden County Prosecutor Mary Eva Colalillo and Camden County Police Chief Scott Thomson said on Thursday.

Casche Alford appeared in juvenile court Thursday on a first-degree murder charge and had her case waived to adult court. Alford is scheduled to be arraigned at 1:30 p.m. Friday, May 13, at the Camden County Hall of Justice.

She surrendered to Camden County Police in connection with a shooting that occurred in October on Jan. 9, two days after Plummer Jr. was found lying on the sidewalk on the 2900 block of Line Street in Camden by police.

He was suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to Cooper University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Alford has been held at a juvenile detention facility since she surrendered. In that incident, Camden County Police responded at approximately 1:16 p.m. on Oct. 30 to the 2600 block of Mickle Street in reference to a ShotSpotter activation.

Officers found a 19-year-old Camden man in the area of 27th and Stevens streets. He was taken to Cooper University Hospital for treatment.

She was charged with attempted murder, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a weapon and aggravated assault in that incident.

Ballistic evidence aided detectives in linking her to both shootings, police said.
