The Noori family was among the Afghan evacuees who arrived at Manchester-Boston Regional Airport in early January to resettle in the region. They will be settling in Lowell, Mass. They left Afghanistan on Aug. 24 and then were in El Paso, Texas, until arriving in New Hampshire. With them is United Airlines employee Namreen Awan, standing at far left, of Londonderry, who was helping the family with their baggage and transportation to Lowell. The Noori family is, from left, 2-year-old Taqwa, mother Samya, 10-month-old Zahara, and father Noorullah.

Volunteers and donations have been flooding into agencies that are working to resettle Afghan evacuees in Massachusetts and New Hampshire, but more help is always welcome, officials said last week.

Jeffrey Thielman, president and CEO of the International Institute of New England, said he expects his organization will be resettling at least 500 Afghans this year in the two states.
