FORT SMITH, Ark. (KFTA) — The Fort Smith Board of Directors is considering purchasing hundreds of acres near the downtown area for trails.

The board discussed purchasing 330 acres of land located between the Arkansas River and Riverfront Drive during its meeting Tuesday.

It would cost over $100,000 and would be used to create trails for running, walking and mountain biking.

Board members are expected to make a final decision on Nov. 20.
