A body was pulled from the Muddy River in Boston today, state police said.

A body was found just after 9 a.m. near Boylston Street, according to state police.

“We sent detectives but it has since been determined to be Boston Police jurisdiction,” said state police spokesman David Procopio.

Boston Police said the investigation is ongoing.

State police also are investigating the recovery of a body part that was found in the Charles River at 10:40 a.m. While police initially thought it was human remains, Procopio said last night that it may be part of an animal carcass.

"The body part is currently with the medical examiner who will make a final determination. But right now it looks animal , not human," Procopio said.

The incidents are not believed to be related and police say they do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the public.
