MEDINA, Ohio -- Running back Jake Rogers raced for five touchdowns to grant Highland its first Suburban League American Division conference win of the season in a 63-23 rout of Kent Roosevelt.
Rogers was able to stake the Hornets to a 28-0 lead over the Rough Riders in the first quarter after scoring three touchdowns. He finished with 165 rushing yards and four touchdowns on 13 carries. One of his touchdown scores came on a 48-yard punt return in the second quarter. His four other touchdown runs covered a total of 5, 36, 20 and 35 yards.
Highland quarterback Jack McGinty went only 4-5 from the field yet ended up passing for 105 yards and two touchdown strikes. Wideout Bryce Profitt hauled in four receptions for a total of 105 yards and two touchdowns.
Highland (3-1, 1-0) will host conference rival Revere next week while Kent Roosevelt (2-2, 0-1) hosts Aurora.
