Detroit Pistons Again Offering YMCA Nights at the Palace

The partnership is part of a NBA League-wide initiative to support fitness and wellness.

The Detroit Pistons and YMCA of Metropolitan Detroit are teaming up for the second consecutive year to host YMCA Nights at The Palace, giving children participating in the Y’s sports programs a chance to see the Pistons in action this season.

The partnership is based on the Pistons Fit platform, part of the NBA League-wide initiative to support fitness and wellness.

The partnership between the Pistons and YMCA will feature YMCA Nights at The Palace – Jan. 10 when the Pistons face the Brooklyn Nets and Feb. 22 when the Pistons battle the Washington Wizards – with an invitation for every child participating in the Y’s sports programs to attend those games and get a post-game shot on the Pistons court.

The Pistons will also be offering special discounted pricing for friends and family of Y participants and will be donating $5 for every ticket purchased by Y members and staff to the YMCA.

“The Y is thrilled to team with the Pistons for another great season, empowering youth to learn about teamwork and physical activity through basketball,” said Scott Landry, CEO of the YMCA of Metropolitan Detroit. “Our continued partnership with the Pistons furthers our cause to strengthen Metro Detroit.”

The Y has served Metro Detroit for over 160 years and is one of the nation’s leading nonprofits strengthening communities through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Throughout Metro Detroit, Ys engage more than 300,000 men, women and children – regardless of age, income or background – to nurture the potential of children and teens, improve the region’s health and well-being and provide opportunities to give back and support neighbors.

“We are extremely excited to be able to partner with the Y for a second consecutive year to promote health and wellness,” said Charlie Metzger, Palace Sports & Entertainment EVP and Chief Marketing & Communications Officer. “We are always happy to collaborate with a community partner who aims to make an impact in the same ways that our organization does and YMCA nights are a great way to educate youngsters about the importance of exercise and teamwork, while giving them an opportunity to experience a Pistons game.”
