Vijayakanth son’s dog is best in show

CHENNAI: Apart from politics and cinema, DMDK leader Vijayakanth and his family members are also known for their interest in dog shows.
On Sunday, a dog owned by the family won ‘Best in Show’ both for FCI International Championship Dog Show and Madras Canine Club’s Championship Dog Show. The 18-month-old standard poodle is fondly called Mr Big.
It competed against the likes of breeds including Afghan hound, chippiparai, rajapalayam, German shepherd, beagle, dalmatian, cocker spaniel, rottweiler, great Dane, dobermann pinshcer, bull dog, boxer, golden retriever.
Vijayakanth’s kennel has a total of 40 dogs. Two of his dogs, a Siberian husky and an Afghan hound, won prizes at a dog show organised by the Palghat Kennel Club last year. His sons, Vijay Prabhakaran and actor Shanmuga Pandian, have been spotted at many dog shows in the last few years.
