A second Tuslaw High School student has died from injuries sustained in Friday’s traffic crash in Tuscarawas Township.

Keith Klett, 16, died at 1:40 p.m. Monday at Mercy Medical Center in Canton, according to Rick Walters, Stark County Coroner’s Office investigator.

Klett was a passenger in a 1996 Chevrolet Corsica driven by Noah Reidenbach, 17, that apparently lost control in a curve, went off the road and overturned before sinking in a man-made pond in front of a home at 13100 Kimmens Rd.

The teens, both members of the junior class, were trapped in the submerged car for about half an hour before they were pulled to safety. Reidenbach died Saturday at Affinity Medical Center in Massillon.

Coroner P.S. Murthy’s preliminary ruling, pending toxicology results, is that both teens died from drowning, according to Walters. Neither boy regained consciousness after they were rescued from the water, Walters said.

The Spidell Funeral Home in Mount Eaton is handling Klett’s funeral arrangements. Calling hours for Reidenbach are set for noon Wednesday in the Tuslaw High School gymnasium. The funeral service is to follow at 1 p.m.

The crash is still under investigation by the Ohio Highway Patrol. No additional details were available Monday. The Highway Patrol previously reported that snowy road conditions contributed to the crash.

Two people pulled Friday evening from a submerged car on Kimmens Road SW were taken to local hospitals.
